1 3 oz pecans finely ground
1 3/4 cups packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup margerine/butter softened
1/2 cup shortening
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 large eggs
4 cups all purpose flour frosting
food coloring
lollipop sticks

In a large bott with mixer at low speed, mix first 8 ingredients and 2 cups flour. With hand, knead in remaining flour. Roll half of dough into 2 inch diameter log, rols second half into 3 inch diameter log. Wrap freeze two hours until firm enough to cut.
Preheat oven to 375, slice 1 log into round slightly thicker than 1/4 inch. Place 1 inch apart on cookie sheets. Bake 12-15 minutes until browned, cool on wire rack. Repeat with remaining log.
Prepare frosting, tint with food coloring. First attach the lollip stick with frosting to the back of the cookie and let set. Decorate cookies with santa faces/and bearsd. If necessary add a little water so frosting will spread evenly. Store tightly covered.
