Mix flour, baking sode, cinnamon, giner, salt and clove. Beat shortening and brown sugar in a bow with an electric mixer until pale and fluffy; beat in the egg. Stir in nmolasses until blended. Stir in flour mixture just until stiff dough forms. Chill 30 minutes. Form ball using 1/4 cup doub for each. Place 3 balls on each lightly greased baking sheet and flatten to a 4 inch diameter (they will spread another inch while cooking). Press in almonds and cndy, sprinkle with a bit of sugar. Bake in 375 degree oven for 10-12 minutes. Cool on sheets and move to rack. |
