1 TBSP shortening/lard
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 TBSP flour
1 cup chopped green chile (you can use more or less)
1 cup chicken broth (you can also sub 2 cups tomato's with liquid)
1/4 tsp garlic powder
3/4 tsp salt

Heat shortening in a fry pan
Saute the chopped onion.
Add flour and cook 1 minute
Add all remaining ingredients and simmer for 20 minutes

Freezes well, makes about to cups
